Parenting Counts Professional Training: Continuing Education Information

Talaris' Parenting Counts Program offers a new, comprehensive online training program focused on the social and emotional development of children from birth to age five.

Washington State STARS Continuing Education Credit

This program is approved by the Washington State Department of Early Learning for a total of 20 hours of continuing education training. The core competency areas include:

Note: The core competency areas are not offered individually; the Parenting Counts Professional Training is a comprehensive program that is approved for 20 hours of STARS continuing education credits.

You must be registered in the MERIT system and provide your STARS ID upon initial registration for the program in order to receive STARS credit for the training.

Social Workers

This program is approved by the National Association of Social Workers (provider #886573643-8845) for 18.5 continuing education contact hours.

Certified Family Life Educator

Approved for Continuing Education Credits for the Certified Family Life Educator program through the National Council on Family Relations. 18 hours.

Professional and National Certified Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists

Amedco is an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP™) and a co-sponsor of this event/program. Amedco may award NBCC-approved clock hours for events or programs that meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP maintains responsibility for the content of this event. 18.5 hours. NBCC-ACEP Provider #5633.

Learning Objectives:

  1. State the relevance of the four Pillars of early learning
  2. Describe the relationship that each of the four Pillars has with one another
  3. List the core concepts and scientific research behind each pillar and the Program
  4. Explain the importance of early learning and later child outcomes
  5. Describe what it means for a child to be socially and emotionally healthy
  6. Teach parents the importance of the core concepts and provide them tools to increase their knowledge, confidence, and positive parenting behavior
  7. Teach the Parenting Counts curriculum to the families and communities you serve
  8. Advocate for social-emotional learning for children birth to five
  9. Understand how to use the Parenting Counts Program resources and tools

Method of Participation:

All participants will view slides, complete activities, participate in interactive audio and video presentation, take a post-test with a minimum of 80% passing score and complete an evaluation at the end of the course content before being able to print a certificate of completion.
